A course of ILIT is three injections, usually four weeks apart, after an initial consultation. That is the whole point of it: a few visits across about eight weeks, instead of the regular injections that conventional immunotherapy asks for over years.
Which is why a second office matters more for ILIT than it would for most things. Bay Area Allergy & Asthma now sees ILIT patients at two St. Petersburg addresses: the long-standing office on Central Avenue, and a new one on 4th Street North.
Who the new office is for
Anyone north of downtown, for a start. 4th Street North runs up the spine of the city, so the office is a short trip for the neighbourhoods either side of it and a simpler one for people coming over from Tampa than Central Avenue was.
What to expect
- A consultation first. Dr Mangat confirms what you are allergic to and whether ILIT is a fit. Testing may be repeated if yours is old or incomplete.
- Three injections, about a month apart. Each visit is short; you wait a while afterwards so the practice can keep an eye on you.
- Either office. The protocol is the same at both; choose the door that is easier to reach.
Cost and coverage
Pricing and insurance handling are the practice's own, and the honest answer is to ask them when you book: coverage for ILIT varies by plan, and many practices offer it as a self-pay course that HSA and FSA funds can pay for.
